OOTD: Pakistani Wedding Outfit

My friend's wedding was on Sunday and it was so much fun. Since it was segregated, we got to dance and dress up properly. This is the sari I wore. I absolutely loved it. I bought this sari from the ISNA Convention for only $35! I wore a black blouse underneath, since I did not have time to get the green one (the one that came with it) sewn. I also wore the black sleeves that I made, because the groom walked in the bride, so I didn't want my arms showing. (You can find the sleeves tutorial here).

Yay for a great buy!

Until next time...

Here and There

I have been pretty busy this past week, alhamdulillah! My brother and sister came to Chicago to visit me and stayed for 4 days. They were still shooting Transformers 3 in Chicago so my brother and sister got to see that. We went to The Bean, The Field Museum and did a whole bunch of other things. We had a lot of fun (well, I did and I hope they did as well lol)!

I love The Bean!

We all drove to Windsor together last night. I am going to stay here for a week and I have to attend my friend's wedding tomorrow. I am very excited about it. I bought a new sari from the ISNA Convention in Chicago, so I plan to wear it tomorrow inshallah. I will post pics of it later on inshallah. =)

Until next time...

The blog title says it all! I went skydiving today...WOOHOO!

It was so great, subhanallah! My brother in law gave it to my husband and I as an anniversary present. All three of us went today. I was really fun and I was sooo nervous. We jumped out of a plane from 14,000 ft

Right when I jumped, I screamed, "La illaha illallah!" because I wanted those to be my last words in case I died, and at the point, I was thinking there would be a high chance of that happening...LOL.

Being up there was so intense! I felt like my stomach was left in the plane and I just fell down. Once we opened the parachute, everything looked so beautiful. The creations of Allah swt are truly a beauty. We just have to stop and marvel at them. It was like time was frozen up there and I saw the world.

The only downside was that since we were first time divers, we had to go with a diving instructor, so basically you two jump together and are strapped together. We asked if there were any female instructors but they said there were only males. The hubby wasn't too excited about it and obviously I would have preferred going with a woman, but I mean...we were falling to the earth at 150 m/h, so there wasn't any shananigans going on there. Either way, I know it wasn't right, so inshallah if I ever go again, it'll be with a woman or I will just watch from below. I had to go just once at least.

I was so worried about my hijab and if it would bother me or choke me, but alhamdulillah it was not a bother at all! Before, I used to be so apprehensive about putting on hijab, but it's only a problem if you let it be one. Who says Hijabis can't do exciting things!

(Our faces have been blurred for obvious reasons)

You guys should all do this at least once. It is so amazing and breathtaking! Am I crazy? Or would you do this too?

Until next time...

Modern TV? Not Without Nudity and Sexual Content!

Why is it that no matter what TV show or movie you are watching, there is nudity and sexual content in it? WHY!?

Entertainment has gone from slightly ridiculous to utterly despicable in a matter of a few years. How is that even possible? There are so many shows that I like to watch, but ALL of them have nudity in it and they are just getting too difficult to watch. I mean, come on!  What's funny (or not so funny, but actually completely stupid) is that the nudity and sexual scenes actually have NOTHING to do with the plot. A scene will be shot in a strip club with naked girls in the background, while the main part is actually a guy talking on his cell phone. He could be having this conversation anywhere in the world and the audience would get the point, but, NO, they HAVE TO put him in a strip club...at 4 p.m. on a Wednesday afternoon! DOES THAT EVEN HAPPEN!?

*By the way, that happened in Entourage today.*

Astugfirullah! Watching TV has just become way too difficult now. I know I shouldn't be watching TV anyway and should spend more time reading Quran or doing something that will be beneficial for my afterlife, but sometimes you just want to lay back and watch a show. Unfortunately, it's just impossible to watch a "good" show anymore because you can always count on seeing naked women, sexual scenes, kissing, girls in bikinis or any other ridiculous action that doesn't need to be there.

Indeed, this is one of the signs of the Day of Judgment: adultery and fornication will be common and accepted. It is already all around us. Even while we sit privately in the comfort of our homes, we are unable to get away from it!

May Allah swt guide us to the straight path and protect us from all this fitna! Ameen.

Until next time...

Transformers 3: Shooting in Chicago!

Well, today was an interesting day. Transformers 3 was shooting in Chicago this weekend....literally on my street! It was so exciting. My cousins were visiting from Detroit, so we walked on over to where they were shooting. There were so many people and the security was being extra annoying and kept pushing us back. I don't go too crazy with all this stuff, but it was fun and really cool to see. We saw all the cars they use in the film and three stunt men jumped off the Sears Tower in front of us for a scene. Some people saw Shia Labeouf, but sadly we didn't.

Alhamdulillah, I love living in Chicago! Snapped a few pictures today so I hope you all enjoy. Any Transformers fans out there? I have watched both movies so far and I love them. Oh, next weekend they will be shooting on Michigan Ave (the bridge on top of the Chicago River), in case any one is in the Chicago area. I will be there, inshallah (is it weird to say Inshallah to something as insignificant as a movie shooting?). I hope I get to see Shia this time...or something more exciting.

I will keep you guys posted. What did you all do this weekend?

Until next time...

Fashion Friendly: Accessorize your Wardrobe

Even a plain and boring outfit can be turned into something cute and fun by accessorizing. Try some of these ideas to enhance your outfit!

Long necklaces and pearls are in, so take advantage and wear one, because it'll even show under your hijab.

Vests can be used to give a different look to even a plain t-shirt.

Put on a tikka (or use a necklace or an earring if you don't have one) when you are wearing salwar kameez.

Colors! Spice up your look by wearing vibrant colors this summer.

Belts and Blazers make an outfit look more sophisticated.

Sunglasses: they protect your eyes and look great! And, yes, you can wear them even if you wear a hijab.

Shoes! Wear different types shoes instead of always the same black ones. Red flats are my favorite!

What do you do to spice up your outfit?
Until next time...

Eye Makeup Inspirations

Just some make up I've done in the past for different occasions. Enjoy!

Purple/Grey Smokey Eye (this one was done by my cousin)

Green and Pink Eye Shadow (for a wedding)

Mac: Electric eel on the water line w/ eyeliner (for a more casual look)

Shades of Green and Yellow for a Mendhi (Henna Party)

Let me know what you guys think and if I can improve on anything. Also, I wanted to ask if anyone knows any tricks to get rid of fall-out that falls on the lashes (like the yellow eye-shadow in the last pic)?

Until next time!

I'm not feeling so great right now. Can someone tell me why husbands are so annoying!?

I feel like guys should definitely go through classes before they get married. Therefore, they will know how to deal with issues that will come up in marriage. And if any guys are reading this....NO, PS3 (or any other gaming system) is not the answer to all your problems! As a matter of fact, it will create more problems for you. So, if your wife is upset, do NOT think playing games will solve the problem.

Alhamdulillah 'ala kulli haal.

Until next time...
